Corpus Christi Medical Center has appointed Yasser Zeid, M.D., chief medical officer (CMO) effective January 20, 2025. Dr. Zeid will oversee clinical and quality efforts across Corpus Christi Medical Center's two acute care hospitals, a psychiatric hospital, and three free-standing emergency rooms in Corpus Christi, Portland and Rockport. His primary focus will be to work with the medical staff and other clinicians to enhance Corpus Christi Medical Center's commitment to quality care, evidence-based practice and patient safety.

With a distinguished career spanning two decades in clinical and executive healthcare leadership, Dr. Zeid joins Corpus Christi Medical Center with a long history of improving clinical outcomes, operational efficiency and patient experience. Most recently, Dr. Zeid served as CMO at Huntsville Memorial Hospital, leading transformative initiatives that elevated CMS Star Ratings, reduced inpatient readmissions and streamlined clinical documentation. His innovative strategies significantly enhanced quality metrics, patient safety and overall satisfaction.

Appointed by Governor Greg Abbott as the Presiding Member of the Statewide Health Coordinating Council (SHCC), Dr. Zeid is at the forefront of healthcare planning and resource allocation across Texas. He also serves as a consultant to the Texas Medical Association's Council on Legislation and represents Texas as part of the TMA delegation to the American Medical Association.

In addition to his healthcare leadership, Dr. Zeid holds an Airline Transport Pilot certificate and proudly serves on the Board of Directors for Angel Flight South Central, a nonprofit organization providing free air transportation for medical needs.

Dr. Zeid is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and holds subspecialty certification in Urogynecology. He earned his Master of Science in Healthcare Transformation from UT Austin and is currently pursuing a Master in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University.
