The Women's Services Departments at Corpus Christi Medical Center Bay Area had a busy and exciting start to 2025, welcoming a wave of new life into the world. On New Year's Eve, the labor and delivery team delivered 15 newborns, marking the holiday one of the busiest nights of the year. The celebrations continued well into the new year, with the first baby of 2025 born just past midnight.
"This has been an extraordinary year for CCMC's Labor & Delivery Department at Bay Area," said David Irizarry, CEO of CCMC. "CCMC ‘s dedicated Medical Staff and Colleagues are proud to help so many families deliver thousands of newborns throughout the year and ring in the new year with the gift of life."
The healthcare team at CCMC worked around the clock to ensure the safety and comfort of patients during the holiday season. Among the highlights was the birth of baby William, who arrived on New Year's Eve at 4:17 p.m., weighing 7 pounds and measuring 19 ¾ inches. Delivered by Dr. Heather Dixon, William is the first child of his parents, Taylor and Luke. He is also the first grandchild of both sides of their family.
"When William arrived, we were emotional; it was love at first sight," Taylor shared. "The doctors and nurses took great care of us, and we are excited to share such a special moment with you."
Another special delivery followed on New Year's Day: the birth of baby girl Lozano at 8:29 a.m. Weighing 8 pounds, she was delivered by Dr. Charles Kirkham and welcomed by her proud mother, Rafaela. Initially due on January 6, baby Lozano surprised her family with an early arrival, bringing joy and excitement to the start of the year.
“This is a life-changing blessing for which I am thankful," said Rafaela Lozano. "When I first saw my daughter, I cried tears of joy. She is healthy and strong with a bright future ahead."
