Patients can be admitted to Corpus Christi Medical Center Bayview directly or after assessments at Corpus Christi Medical Center or other hospitals. Patients may also be referred by doctors, other facilities or managed care companies.

Assessing care needs

All admissions start with a behavioral assessment, done by a licensed professional. Assessments look at a patient’s history (medical and psychiatric), symptoms, the care they are currently receiving and any drug or alcohol use.

With this information, our team determines the best level of care for the patient. It may include inpatient or outpatient treatment and some combination of individual and group therapy and medications. Each treatment plan includes recommendations for types of therapy, milestones to achieve and what types of continuing care the patient needs.

Even when patients are not admitted, Corpus Christi Medical Center Bayview can provide assessments and recommendations for appropriate educational programs or other resources in the community.
