About Corpus Christi Medical Center Bay Area
On September 12, 1993 the doors of Corpus Christi Medical Center - Bay Area opened for business for the first time.  After more than 18 months of construction, the 152-bed acute care hospital and integrated medical office building opened with a surgery center providing inpatient and outpatient services, a comprehensive diagnostics center, and clinical laboratory services and a specially designed center for complete women’s services.  The many physicians who treated their patients at Bay Area also helped determine the services and technology in the facility.    From the layout of the surgical and obstetrical units, the placement of key pieces of equipment, to the selection of high technology imaging systems, physicians and administrators added the personal touch to every facet of Bay Area’s creation. Their vision 20 years ago was a 152-bed hospital that has now grown into a multi-campus healthcare system of 651-beds including Doctors Regional, Bay Area,  The Heart Hospital, Northwest, Northwest Behavioral Health Center, Bayview Behavioral Hospital, Northshore Emergency Center and Radiation Oncology at Corpus Christi Cancer Center. In addition, Corpus Christi Medical Center has become a maτ€€‰or employer in Corpus Christi to over 1,400 professionals and a leader in healthcare, serving over 133,000 patients annually.
