Corpus Christi Medical Center – Bay Area Invites Community to Operate the daVinci Robotic Surgery Training Simulator.

On May 18, Corpus Christi Medical Center – Bay Area, in cooperation with Intuitive Surgical, provided the community the opportunity to “operate” using the Vinci^® Si HD^™ Surgical    Surgical Robot.  Participants explored surgery from the surgeon’s perspective, while viewing the surgical field from a superior 3-D advantage point from the surgeon’s console.

Representatives from Corpus Christi Medical Center and local physicians from Corpus Christi Medical Center were on-site to answer questions and guide participants through a hands-on experience using the robot.  

The Bay Area Robotic Surgical Program has become the leading, most technologically advanced surgical program in the Coastal Bend.  After reaching an unprecedented number of surgeries in a little more than two years, the Program is home to two of the most advanced, state-of-the-art da Vinci^® Si HD^™ Surgical Systems, including the latest generation “Streamlined Integration” (SI) HD version. Features of the new system include fluorescent imaging technology and the ability to perform surgery with only one incision instead of four. The da Vinci^® Si HD^™ Surgical System gives surgeons twice the effective viewing resolution for improved clarity and detail of tissue and critical anatomy, enabling them to offer patients minimally invasive procedures – including treatment of conditions as diverse as prostate cancer and hysterectomies – that result in less pain, discomfort, blood loss and a quicker return to normal activities. To date, Bay Area is the only local hospital with the da Vinci^® Si HD^™Technology.
